I developed Totally About Diabetes because I have seen too many patients that did not know how to take of themselves with diabetes. Some were not educated at the time of diagnosis. Others attempted to educate themselves using the internet and/or listening to friends and family. I have been a nurse practitioner for more than 25 years and a certified diabetes educator for about 20 years.
Type 2 diabetes has become an epidemic. Many people have diabetes but have not been diagnosed and there are millions with prediabetes. Let’s face it, education takes time. Changing mindsets and behaviors take even longer. That is where Totally About Diabetes stands out. We work with clients to develop a program that is suited for them. Our mission is to show people that they can live a long healthy life with diabetes.
I received my nursing degrees and nurse practitioner from Indiana University, Purdue University, and Samford University. I am a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Alabama Alliance of Nurse Practitioner, and American Association of Diabetes Educators.
