Type 1 diabetes can be developed by anyone at any time but is most often found in young adults and children. Simply put, Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas no longer produces insulin. Type 1 diabetes occurs suddenly and is considered an autoimmune condition.

Without insulin, blood sugar accumulates in the bloodstream. If high glucose levels remain, uncontrolled blood sugar is life-threatening. People diagnosed with type 1 diabetes must take insulin in order to live.

A coach can help to make diabetes manageable by educating, inspiring, and offering support. Diabetes is a disease but it does not have to take the driver’s seat in your life. Live well by eating well, maintaining healthy physical activity, and monitoring blood glucose levels. And most importantly have a support system!
